…Alberto here, I am PhD candidate Simon Fraser University, School of Communication. As you might have already read on these pages, in my research project Labora I am investigating the discourse and the praxes of the startup economy. As a first time ethnographer, I spent nearly two years observing and interviewing the people working in Vancouver’s digital and new media industries.
Throughout my PhD journey, I also worked as Research Assistant at SFU’s GenaLab, where I conducted research on social media’s role in the formation of public opinion about emerging technologies (Direct to consumer genetic tests and blockchain).
Since 2018, I am the editor in chief of Stream, SFU School of Communication graduate journal.
Prior to starting my PhD, I was a Research Fellow at the European Centre for Living Technology at Ca’ Foscari University in Venice. There, I was involved in two European projects on innovation and sustainability: Insite and Emergence by Design.
What follows is a list of my academic contributions.
